“It was regrettable. That was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the gesture was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply put up the incorrect digit,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently done. This is sincere. Should you call it unplanned, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”
